The curtain rises on a Venetian scene, instantly transporting the viewer to the narrow alleys and winding canals of the Doge's city. The intricately cut facades display baroque architecture, with detailed decorations reflecting the artistic richness of the era. Light and shadows play where characters in costumes recreate an 18th-century Venetian ambiance. Actors in commedia dell'arte costumes blend into the masked crowd of the Venetian carnival, performing traditional Italian dances and pantomimes.
Made in France, each decorative element is carefully imagined, developed and designed in order to create numerous details of unique atmospheres, transporting you to another era. It is an invitation to relive emblematic scenes of French tradition and its history, an immersion in varied worlds poetically evoking bucolic and baroque scenes. Unique and sophisticated, these miniature theaters will add a touch of vintage elegance to your living space. Let yourself be carried away by the magic of miniature art and treat yourself to a little piece of history.
This miniature in reconstituted wood with a baroque taste and made in France perpetuates the tradition of paper characters and theaters. The “Venise” decor is compatible with the “Pompadour” mini theater model.
Brief history of paper theaters
Known as paper theater and figurine theater, is a form of miniature theater dating back to the early 19th century in Europe. Paper theaters were often of Italian genre and printed on cardboard sheets and sold in kits to commemorate an event or show. These paper sets were assembled at home and performed in small groups, sometimes with musical accompaniment. Although paper theater declined with the advent of television after World War II, it is currently experiencing a resurgence among many puppeteers, authors, and filmmakers, reconnecting with the imagination of the past. Enthusiasts and traditionalists present restored versions of Victorian-era plays, while new artists push the boundaries of this form by adapting it to contemporary works. Contemporary miniature theater has the freedom to use any available technology and explore any subject, yet there is a persistent fascination with the great classics of French comedy or even the famous commedia dell'arte taking place in the very baroque Venetian landscapes.
