Brief history of paper theaters

Paper theaters were often of Italian genre and printed on cardboard sheets and sold in kits to commemorate an event or show. These paper sets were assembled at home and performed in small groups, sometimes with musical accompaniment. Although paper theater declined with the advent of television after World War II, it is currently experiencing a resurgence among many puppeteers, authors, and filmmakers, reconnecting with the imagination of the past.
